The sky's starting to slip into that cool steel blue of the impending winter and for the moment, the winds have died away, leaving that disconcerting calm that hides the truth of the temperature from daydreaming eyes. It's Monday, and outside my window it looks like it should be warm, with people on patios grilling something fresh, their barefeet soaking in the heat of the 'forenoon sun.
My eyes keep slipping back to it and I realize I am daydreaming. I have to go to a meeting soon, the mundane Monday morning ritual of the corporate damned, methinks. Lots of blah blah blah without corporate sponsored coffee.
I mentioned over the weekend that I had taken a few photos. The fall doesn't last nearly as long here as I would like it to, but for the moments it's here, it's something to behold. These are a couple of my favorites.
As I walked up to this area the wind was blowing so hard that it snowed yellow leaves. I waited almost an hour for it to do it again but the wind had shifted directions. Still, I like it. I didn't notice the bench until I got home.
I don't know who the man in the photo is; he simply walked up and stood there, pensive, comtemplative, still. The vignette is from the filters on the wide angle being too deep for the field of view. It's also a little dark but I like the curve and his position.
I just like red.
I got an early start this morning for breakfast and to see some of the Peachtree runners then headed over to a friend's place for a nice casual BBQ and pool party. It was a small gathering of mostly his extended family and some longtime family friends, so it was nice to be invited.
After teriyaki burgers with grilled pineapple and baby swiss, some bison and an incredible California wine that went just as well with the burgers as the ice cream sandwich I got hold of, I headed over to Lenox Square to join 30,000 other insane people in the sun for some live music and fireworks. There were way too many people but I found a curb and parked myself on it until the fireworks started and people just stood in front of me. LOL But the view couldn't have been better no matter who was where so I couldn't get too riled up about it. Everyone seemed to be having a good time and it's always nice to see people in the spririt of a holiday.
I love fireworks...I always have ever since I was a little kid. I've never really been skilled at photographing them but every once in awhile I think I get lucky. Of all my attempts over the years, I think this first one is my absolute favorite. I even planned it. LOL
I hope you all had a fun holiday and got out to enjoy the day. :-)
Sweet dreams, Internetland. And Happy 4th of July. :-)
My allergies are killing me today and I generally just don't feel well, but it's one of those strange weather days here where white skies turn grey and black then perfectly blue so I felt like going outside for a bit and taking a few macro shots. And I was bored. lol I really wish I had something more like a 100mm instead of 50, especially when trying to shoot things that tend to fly directly at your face when you get too close. Not that I blame them...lol.
Anyway, nothing special, just some tiny things.
“The moon, like a flower
In heaven's high bower,
With silent delight
Sits and smiles on the night.”
~
William Blake
The moon should be full and bright tonight, and sometimes here if the time is right, it sets over the city in the early morn, an opalescent god over the slumbering concrete and glass. Once more as I rise I'll try to capture it.
I'd keep it in a jar by my bedside if I could, but I think I'd miss it in the summer sky. And you know, it would be really freaking bright.
...Well, the moon really was the giant I expected it to be this morning, unfortunately it was almost gone by the time I got to the hill to shoot it...stupid DST.
*sigh*
Maybe tomorrow...
